The GRP Proluxe 857 (and its aluminium P918 model variant) are recent versions of the single inboard configurations of that size. The majority of these craft are fitted with the Volvo 435 hp D6 diesel engine driving Hamilton waterjets. However, a P918 was fitted with a high performance twin prop sterndrive for an Owner who favoured outright speed for extended offshore passages. These tenders are being fitted on larger yachts over 60m where Owners need multi role hard working craft that are completed up to yacht quality finish but rugged enough for tough assignments.
These include taking groups of guests diving, taking guests around ice packs, shuttling back and forth for landings on challenging beaches, delivering and picking up guests when the Limo tender can’t do the job and Adventure passage-making. These sorts of Tenders often have shock mitigating suspension seating and passenger canopies for comfort and protection against the elements.
The complexity of these systems are often amplified by lifting and storage constraints aboard the Yacht but these are often overcome by smart engineering by Zodiac. Aluminium hulls are often the choice for these multi-role Adventure Tenders due to their resistance in harsh environments.
